B'98: Recent Advances in the Development and Use of the B Method
Second International B Conference, Montpellier, France, April 22-24, 1998, Proceedings
It was an opportunity for me to return to the city where I began studying computer science at the IUT (University Institute of Technology) on rue du Cardinal de Cabrières.
Pézenas is known, among other things, for two figures: Molière and Boby Lapointe.
Boby Lapointe is known among computer scientists for having invented the Bibi-binary.

"He is best known for his songs peppered with puns, spoonerisms, alliterations, and paronomasia, sometimes to the point of deceiving ears."
"After obtaining his baccalaureate, he began preparing at the Montpellier high school[1] for the entrance exams to two major French schools: the École Centrale and Supaéro, to satisfy his passion for aviation and mathematics. Louis Leprince-Ringuet, to whom Boby Lapointe presented a treatise on mathematics, was impressed by his rigorous reasoning and confided in him that he could have gone into research.[2],[3] Boby Lapointe subsequently created a method of graphically and phonetically representing binary or hexadecimal numbers, called the Bibi number system, or the Bibi system, or: bibi-binary.
In Poitiers, I was appointed Commander of the Order of Venerated Bitard (L.S.T.!). And during a Student Week, Boby Lapointe was invited to Poitiers by the Order and made a Knight of the Order.
What a pleasure it was to meet Boby Lapointe at his home in Pézenas with a group of musicians and singers.

My non-native French-speaking colleagues probably didn't understand everything. There were no subtitles during the meal!

P.S. I just learned that:
François Barrême (1638-1703), a mathematician, taught at the college in Pézenas, where he began to expand his business by drawing on his personal fortune. In 1682, he published a treatise on elementary arithmetic ("book of accounts made"), which earned him a reputation under the common name of barème (1). A street in the town bears his name.
